Trade routes are essentially invisible highways in space. They are the safest and most traveled paths used by galactic commuters and serve as a means of connecting worlds to each other.

Overview

Several million trade routes exist in the galaxy, most of them being branches of larger routes. The average trade route is several light-years wide and dozens of light-years long. The largest ones cut clear across the galaxy, carrying trillions of commuters at any given moment.

Methods of travel along trade routes vary. The most common is via subspace, the most tested, affordable, and widespread form of superluminal travel, and it presents the lowest risk of collision since its users are mostly immersed in a separate dimension. Warp drives and other forms of FTL travel are also seen.
